FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MAREH to Provide Solar Photo Voltaic System to Harrisburg Middle School

16 September 2011

MERAH executive director Nadine Straitt and volunteers tour the sustainable gardening project at Harrisburg Middle School in preparation for installing Solar Photovoltaic Panels.  According to Ms. Straitt, MAREH will be providing a relocatable 90 Watt Solar PV system for use with the sustainable gardening project and other school science projects.  The system was obtained completely though donations to MERAH and will not cost the school anything for parts or setup. Currently MAREH volunteers are fabricating a metal frame work to hold the solar panel assembly securely in high winds, while still being able to be relocated by the Garden staff as needed to perform various experiments with students.  Delivery of the completed system is expected in the next couple of weeks.

Jill Zartman and student volunteers walk past the Harrisburg Middle School greenhouse. The greenhouse built by the Delta Garden Study and FoodCorps will house winter crops and student agricultural experiments.
